Hangzhou - Day 15 April 9th
Today
we went for a boat ride on West Lake. It is called West Lake because it
is in the west part of Hangzhou. The boat held about 30 people. We had
nice weather and good visibility. We saw the Broken Bridge
and
many other boats. We also saw the three pagodas, they
look like buoys floating on the water, but are really stone
pagodas two meters high and were built in 1621. A picture of the three
pagodas and the Broken Bridge is on one side of the one yuan
bill.
On the other side of the yuan bill is Chairman Mao. In the evening, my dad, Mary, and Gordon worked for five hours on packing our precious Quan Yin. Mom and Susan went to the hotel restaurant and got food to go for everybody and brought it up to our floor. We had so much food we had to eat in the hallway. Mom called our dinner a "Chinese picnic." We packed up for our flight to Beijing where we stayed one night and flew home the following morning. Overall, it was a grrrrrrrrreat trip!!! :) We thank ASIA and Susan for all their work and help during the process. We also thank our friends Mary and Gordon for traveling with us. Thanks to our guides and drivers for making it all possible. Thanks to Thalia and Lynn for taking care of our cat, Cisco, during our absence. Thank you Grandma for the camera, it worked well. To my teachers, sorry I couldn't help you while I was away, but I was learning history about my home country. Thank You! Iris Parshley |
